Meet Melissa...

Melissa Costello, CCSPsy,
EFL Coach
Ever since I can remember, I have loved horses (all animals for that matter). My mom was a Veterinary Technician so we always had an array of stray animals she rescued in our home, from birds, to cats, to dogs and beyond. My dream of having my own horse was a faraway one, as we didn't have a lot of money. I would go to horse shows and watch in awe at all the beautiful riders, while secretly wishing it was me.
I took some riding lessons as a kid, and did some trail riding here and there, but it wasn't until I moved to Santa Barbara California that horses became a huge part of my daily life. I always had a dream to live near the ocean where I could be with horses, and that dream has come true.
As I spent many years volunteering with horses at a local Therapeutic Riding center, I was simultaneously running a very successful life coaching business. I knew that I wanted to incorporate horses into my work because of the power they have to help humans heal, but I only wanted to work with them at Liberty, where a horse is not forced to do anything but be a horse.
That led me to get my certification in Equine Facilitated Learning through the Herd Institute. I started coaching immediately and have helped many women heal, while making peace with themselves and their past. It is an honor to be able to support women in reclaiming their power, while witnessing them let go of the burdens that hold them back from living fully.
I would love to support you on your journey to healing with my equine partners! Remember, no horse experience is necessary to get the full benefit from my Equine Partnered Coaching, whether you come for private sessions or join my Sacred Horse Sister Circle.

First I want to say that you were incredible!! I have an M.S. in Counseling and have worked for over 40 years in that capacity.
I can not imagine anyone I’ve worked with doing as good or a better job than you yesterday—your questions & comments —your verbal and physical responses to all the “horse sisters”!
Very grateful to be able to participate with you at the helm and be with all the animals and humans.

It was a glorious day spent with wonderful women and I was so humbled and warmed by the experience. From the moment I arrived, I felt seen and heard and grateful for the opportunity to ease into the process.
Thank you for this wonderful workshop and for the opportunity to be so empowered!
